They just don’t make it like they used to…

This is true for many things, but particularly furniture. Oh the pieces I have let go over the course of my life when I wanted to update a room, only to find the quality far inferior to the solid but darkly finished furniture of old. Oddly enough my first project happened to be taking my kitchen cabinets from “orangey oak” to creamy white - nothing like going big or going home! I found it wasn’t as hard or scary as I thought and never looked back. The piece at right is a dresser my husband and I purchased for our first home - it was solidly build, but out of date so not only did I give it new life, I was able to incorporate one of my favorite scriptures as a daily reminder of where my gifts and talents come from.
